About BFA

The Bangalore Film Academy provides hands-on DFM, i.e. (Digital Film Making), as a combined course, which includes Direction, Acting, Editing, Cinematography and Photography, designed and catered to by tenured industry experts who guide you into turning you passion into attainable skill.

We specialize in Cinemotogprahy, Acting, Directing, Photography and Editing.

BFA offers course that branch for the duration of about 24weeks, i.e. (6months). There are also individual courses on the above mentioned subjects, where this would be a weekend training program, which is specially designed for students and working professionals, without any sacrifice or interruptions of their Job, studies and business. The key idea behind this program is to give opportunity to aspiring students who dream of making it big in the Cinema industry.

We in BFA not only provide students with cinema knowledge but we also get them trained from the hands of experienced active professionals from the industry.

So students get the benefit of learning by doing and receive experience that will best prepare them to succeed in their own respective field of Art.

BFA Director’s Message
Subramani Doraiswamy

Bangalore Film Academy is the first exposure we have, to any kind of formal education towards filmmaking. It is in fact our ABC’s or the First step we took towards teaching filmmaking professionally, It was very emotional for me at the birth of Bangalore Film Academy, as we are very dedicated in making dreams and aspirations come true for young people out there who are interested in Filmmaking.

Our programs are career-focused and application-oriented. Program Advisory Committees provide insights and ensure curricular alignment with sectors and job requirements. Faculty members plan and deliver their courses to emphasize hands-on applications that engage and encourage students’ learning. Students apply new skills and knowledge in increasingly complex activities and projects in each of the Institute’s campus and studio—every day of the term.

The key to the BFA educational model are structured intensity and immersion in the industry. Bangalore Film Academy was found on the principle that each batch of concentrated work, that balances industry-led theory and hands-on production, gives students the necessary skills to craft a professional-level portfolio or reel.

Also we at Bangalore Film Academy offer quality educational programs-spanning every aspect of the entertainment arts-that are developed and taught by award-winning industry professionals. So that each program’s intensive curriculum evolves along with demands of the industry, and the best, current industry practices.

Students’ experiences emulate the professional industry world, as students are physically and mentally immersed in Bangalore Film Academy’s works and teachings at our campus and benefit from career guidance and expertise from industry mentors, instructors and guest speakers.

My favourite days of the term happen when students from BFA present their final, capstone projects. These events signal the culmination of Bangalore Film Academy. More importantly, they demonstrate that Bangalore Film Academy students are adaptive to creative and critical thinking, continuous learning and self-promotion. The projects themselves attest to the fact that program learning outcomes are practitioner-based, practical and professional and by exhibiting what they are able to do and what they know about their industries and sectors, Bangalore Film Academy students show that they are prepared to contribute to projects and organizations from their very first day on the job.

Another favourite day of the term is when I welcome new students to the Academy. Invariably these new students are excited to pursue their career goals and to participate in Bangalore Film Academy brand of application-oriented learning. At the same time, they are anxious about their success in a rigorous post-secondary program of study. I can therefore assure them that BFA faculties and staffs are committed to helping them reach their career goals and to pro-actively support them as they progress throughout their journey at the academy.
